The 1970s were a revolutionary time with
sweeping social changes and cultural upheaval.
Art, entertainment and fashion were often
experimental and edgy. To counteract these
sometimes scary changes a wholesome and idyllic
trend ran parallel. Sweet, homespun images
cropped up on everything from curtains to
greeting cards. You might already be familiar
with the Holly Hobbie drawings, from the
same era. Her characters are probably the
most recognizable but there were lots of
others.
The pendants we have here are in that genre
although they are much more whimsical than
Holly Hobbies work. They feature innocent
and dreamy, child like scenes which are hand
painted on the backs of plastic lenses (the
same method as reverse painting on glass).
Each pendant is rimmed in gold tone metal
and hangs from a golden chain. The chain
length is 26". They are all marked in
back..... Country Children ™, Love Lens ™,

These adorable pendants were never used,
wholesale stock. I purchased them from the
estate of a man who was a costume jewelry
distributor from the 1950s until the 1980s.
Although some of the scenes are similar each
one is a little different because they were
hand painted. They are all in excellent condition.
The only issue of note I discovered is some
of the spring clasps don't close automatically.
You need to push them closed. This is probably
because they were never used and after 35
years they got a bit stiff. Just make sure
you close them tight, or better still slip
them off and on over the head and don't even
use the clasp.
I was able to buy a couple dozen of these
necklaces and some key chains and pins to
match which we will post soon.
The price was right for me so I am able to
make them affordable to you. I think they
would make fun friendship gifts so I decided
to offer a little discount if you buy two!
One for you and one for your dearest friend.
We have represented all the different
scenes
available. When you order please indicate
