1950s Circle flounce apron
An absolutely darling little hostess apron from the late 1940s.
This apron is a real favorite of mine. I love the flouncy effect of the short 1/2 circle cut. It works especially well with the full skirts of the late 40s - 50s. This one is done in two layers. The shorter top layer is a polished cotton with blush pink background and large cabbage roses and blue morning glories. The longer underlayer is a crisp, sheer cotton organdy in coral pink., with a waved edge. The edges are defined with mint green bias trim... this makes for a very pretty color combination. There is one tiny applied pocket, large enough for a hanky. This apron was never worn and has it's original tag. The tag reads By Lefort with it's phone number and address in Winchendon, Ma. Note the old telephone number with the full town name! The waistband is done in the same floral polished cotton with sheer organdy sash extensions. The sashes are "tipped" at the end with the floral fabric.
A small hostess size, the apron measures top to bottom 16 ", as I said it is cut in a half circle.....the bottom edge measures 53" the full length of the waist band with sashes is 66".
