1960s-70s Hawaiian dress Med# 1623
Breathtaking bark cloth Hawaiian dress from the late 60s - early 1970s. I see lots of Hawaiian printed dresses but this one is exceptional. I love the earth tone print against the black background. I also love the way the pattern is placed to one side instead of in the center. This is so much more interesting to the eye. The cut is a simple and elegant long column with a sleeveless scoop neck bodice with elasticized empire waist line. The waist has a delicate cord in olive which ties just under the bust. The inside of the bodice is faced with the same olive green. The back of the skirt is vented to the knee for ease of movement. There are two labels in this dress one reads Made in Hawaii the other has the RN number size style and reads 100% cotton. The company on record with this RN # is Stardust Inc.The size is Medium and it has the following measurements.
Bust 36"
Hips 42" (the waist stretches)
the length of the dress from shoulder to hem is 53".

Early 1980s Gabar One Piece Swimsuit Med/Large# 5611
Quirky bold stripe Gabar swimsuit from the early 1980s.
One piece skirted swimsuits with push up busts lines have been around for a long time...I guess thats because they look so flattering on. Gabar is an old name in the swimwear industry and one of the most highly regarded. This little number may have a classic cut but the print is anything but. Wide black and white vertical stripes are randomly splashed with streaks of hot pink and periwinkle blue. So TOTALLY 80s!
The suit has a structured built in bra and thigh skimming overskirt. Nicely constructed (to be expected..it's a Gabar).
Size: Medium/Large and will fit around a 38 B or C. It should comfortably fit the following measurements,
Bust 42" - 44"
Waist 30" - 34"
Hips 42" - 44"
Very Good Condition - The suit looks pristine on the body however there is some fuzzing to the fabric on the seat of the under pant (probably from sitting on a scratchy surface like a pool edge). This is covered by the skirt so it does not show when worn. All elastic and fabric still has it's stretch. No stains or holes. That is the only issue.

Vintage Mayan Handwoven Kaftan Med/Sm# 5640
Vintage Kaftan or long tunic made from 100% cotton from Guatemala. This garment was imported by Cottage Industries in the early 1980s. The fabric ground is woven with a blend of two different color threads black and turquoise which creates a rich teal color. It has a traditional multi color pattern woven into the hem and sleeves although the cut of the garment is not traditional Mayan.
The body is long and narrow with a deep side slit...it has a gathered "peasant" style top with elasticized neck and wide sleeves. A versatile piece it can be worn a number of ways. Add pretty sandals and some wonderful jewelry and this would make a lovely outfit for a casual summer party. Wear it poolside as a swimsuit cover up or on a day off, lounging at home with a cup of tea and the morning paper.
I photographed it with a belt at the waist (not included)
Size - Smallish Medium
Bust 35 1/2"
Hip - 39"
Length - from shoulder to hem 56"
