1920s black satin frock X-Small

# 5031

Smart little black and orange satin frock from the 1920s.

I have always loved the combination of orange and black. It's such a fun combination. This darling little 20s dress is done in black crepe backed satin. The wide collar and cuffs are hand embroidered and appliqued in orange satin with a wonderful arts and crafts style design. The dress has a straight bodice, dropped waist and knee length circle skirt which flutters ever so nicely. The edge of the hem is finished with a border of orange satin piping. The sleeves are long and narrow. It has an open V neckline with broad collar. It is trimmed down the front with tiny orange satin covered buttons. The dress closes on the left side with little hidden snaps. There is no label but the workmanship is excellent so I am assuming it is a private dressmakers creation. The size is Extra Small and it is petite. It  would look best on someone under 5'4", also the shoulders are very small so please note the following measurements.

Bust 34"
Dropped Waist 32"
Sleeve length 21"
Shoulder to shoulder 14 1/2" ( NOTE: this is a very narrow measurement)

1950s -60s Pretty Gingham dress Med

# 5501

Pretty Gingham dress from the late 1950s early 60s.

Sweetly styled black and white, Cotton/Arnel gingham dress with lots of little details. The silhouette sports a semi-fitted bodice, cinched waist and full pleated skirt. The neckline is wide and scooped and is defined with a black bias band.  There are decorative little black buttons down the from but is zips in back with a metal zipper. The sleeves are 3/4 length and they finish in a fluted ruffle (lined in black) and a tiny bow.  It has a full skirt  with wide inverted box pleats. I have it pictured with a crinoline beneath but this is not included in the sale. There are great modern petticoats available online which would work well with this dress.

This dress was never worn and still has it's original hangtags. it came to me without it's belt, so I photographed it with a wide, picot edged, grossgrain ribbon tied at the waist. I will include this but you can wear any belt you like and I'm thinking red would be a chic touch especially if you have red matching shoes!

The size is  Medium with the following measurements.

Bust 38"

Waist 27'

Length of skirt from waist to hem 25"

It zips up the front with a metal zipper and has short sleeves. The skirt has a bit of flair and the bodice is gently fitted. There is a label which reads Top Mode Frocks. This is a typical house dress of it's day... They were affordable, pretty and practical dresses that women wore for everyday in the home.
This look spanned a number of years from the later 40s through the 50s but the RN number puts it at the later end of this range. The dress was worn but is in great condition.

1960s Mod Dot Dress Med

# 5593

Mod to the Max.

Think Marimekko, Mary Quant and Rudi Gernreich all rolled into one!  Fabulous Mod dress Circa mid 1960s. The fabric is a linen blend with oversized dot print. Colors are electric green and aqua that  practically vibrate before your eyes. The dress is cut in a sleeveless gently fitted sheath with a novelty collar of accordion pleated organdy in matching print. There is no makers label (drat!) so I don't know who designed this piece, it does have a US size label but that's all. Pinked seams and metal zipper in back.

Size is in the medium range with the following measurements.

Bust 38"

Waist 33"

Hips 40"

Length from shoulder to hem 38"

Mint Condition - This dress was never worn. Note: Many of the dresses from this era were shortened to become mini dresses. Especially the younger Mod styles. This one was not and is still the original length.

1960s mod harlequin print dress Sm/Med

# 5134

Ladylike with a twist!

Mod harlequin print dress from the 1960s. The cut of the dress is a loose sheath style with bracelet length (above the wrist) sleeves and soft rolled collar. In a plain fabric it would be ever so prim but the bold harlequin print and silky acetate knit transform this simple dress into a wild little number.

The acetate knit is whisper light with a sensual drape....smooth as a silky slip. It has a self fabric cord belt which you can tie at the waist or for a different style just under the bust creating an empire look.

There is a back metal zipper. The pattern is clean and modern . A modified all over harlequin check in bright shades of amber, blue and orange. The checks are defined by jagged black borders. Mini's are ever popular and this dress would look great shortened. I would use the extra fabric to make a wide headband to match.
Small/medium. Measurements taken without stretching.

1960s Teena Paige Maxi Dress Sm

# 5508

Light and airy voille, maxi dress from the late 1960s by Teena Paige.

The cut is like a sundress with with a fitted sleeveless bodice and wide shoulder straps. it has a long maxi length gathered skirt and zips in back with a metal zipper. The fabric is a sheer voile, with fun Mod-Tulip print in bright happy colors. The dress is completely lined with white cotton batiste to prevent "see through" issues.

A perfect weekend dress, it can be worn day or night particullarly if you are going to be out doors. This one should be fun to accessorize. i'm seeing a wide brimmed floppy straw hat and chunky plastic bangles.

The size is on the smaller end, most noticeably in the bust area. It has the following measurements.

Bust 33"

Waist 25"

Length of skirt from waist to hem 40"
