Article # 11...The Super Duper spot cleaner
Well folks I have discovered the most amazing
spot cleaning trick. I have been trying it
on new materials and the success has been
wonderful.
First you make a mixture using Oxi Clean
and your favorite liquid detergent. I take
½ Oxi Clean and dissolve it in ½ liquid detergent.
Mix this thoroughly. You then take an eye
dropper and put a few drops directly on the
stain. Let that sit for an hour or two and
rinse with cool clean water. The stain should
have lightened quite a bit. Let it dry to
see results, another treatment may be needed.
After the spot treatment soak the item(s)
in oxi clean and water according to directions
on the box.
Oxi clean is expensive so I treat a few items
of similar color at once in the washing machine.
Finally launder as usual. Just to let you
know I tried a copy cat, cheaper product
and it did not work.
The reason you do short time treatments is
because the colors on some materials might
fade if you keep it on too long. If you are
treating white you can keep the solution
on for as long as you like. I treat whites
for 24 hours before the final soak and wash.
So far I have had success with cotton, linen,
rayon, polyester, nylon and acrylic. My
best success has been with lovely vintage
table linens. I am so glad I held on to them,
they all look like new!
